Stunt driving charges for Expressway racer in Kitchener

Going 53 km/h over the speed limit on the Expressway in Kitchener was more than enough for police to pull over a particular driver.

A social media post from the Waterloo Regional Police Service on Wednesday night shows a blue car on the side of the highway near Ottawa Street.

Police said the driver was clocked at 143 km/h in 90 km/h zone.

The unidentified driver was charged with speeding, stunt driving – excessive speed, and stunt driving – racing.

Police also confirmed to 570 NewsRadio they believe this driver was racing against another vehicle.

The driver was issued a licence suspension for 30 days, and their car was impounded for 14 days.

Police wrote, “Stunt driving puts everyone at risk. It also comes with immediate consequences…please do your part by slowing down and staying focused on the road.”

The post was issued as part of the WRPS efforts during Road Safety Week.
