Kitchener announces $120,000 of funding to neighbourhood projects

Seven new people have been selected for the City of Kitchener’s 2026 LoveMyHood Matching Grant. This year delivering a total of more than $120,000 going towards resident-led projects carried out around different neighbourhoods.
Some of the approved projects include:
- Neighbourhood art
- Events
- Greening initiatives
The chosen projects have now been approved by the city. In a release, the city of Kitchener said in a news release that city staff will work alongside residents to help refine any new additions or changes before they are implemented.

The LoveMyHood Matching Grant Selection Committee has three different application periods. Now, two of those dates have come and gone, leaving one more opportunity for residents to apply. The due date for the third review period is Oct. 29, with replies for applications taking four to six weeks on average.
Kitchener is encouraging its residents to get creative and make a change or addition to their neighbourhood. On their website the city included a list of some possible ideas:
- Outdoor exercise equipment
- Neighborhood markets
- Trail enhancements
- Street party
Since its launch nine years ago, the City of Kitchener says the LoveMyHood program has seen over $1.6 million invested into more than 230 resident projects. Through the LoveMyHood program, Kitchener says up to $200,000 will be awarded to support projects that bring the community together.
