Friday winds blow brisk, autumn-like weather to Waterloo Region

By Justin Koehler

A brisk, autumn-like weekend is in store for Waterloo Region brought forth by high winds Friday.

A special weather statement was issued Friday, with winds as high as 90 km/h at times.

Moving into the weekend, 570 Weather Specialist Allister Aalders says it will be cooler, especially in the evenings.

“Afternoon highs are only in the high teens, 18 C today and 17 C tomorrow, and some chilly nights ahead,” he says. “Eight degrees overnight tonight and Sunday night. Into Monday morning, we’re down to five degrees, but temperatures will start to trend warmer as we go throughout next week.”

It’ll be important to keep hold of those sweaters, a stark contrast to the temperatures seen over the past few weeks.

The good news is, it appears the start of the work week will see some improvements on the temperature side.

“Lots of sunshine for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,” Allders says. “A high of 19 C for Monday, we’re up to 22 C by Tuesday, and Wednesday 24 C. So, after being in the mid to high teens this weekend with some cool nights, it is looking warmer next week.”

Make sure you begin your preparations for the impending autumn-like weather, but don’t fret too much, as it looks like the region is still in store for some closer to summer-like conditions pushing through September.
