Roundabout construction on Sawmill Road to start next week

A roundabout set to be installed at Sawmill Road and Ebycrest Road near Bloomingdale this year will have a full road closure in effect starting Monday.
The Region of Waterloo’s construction notices have Bloomingdale Road closed at Sawmill starting August 24 through to September 30.
That closure is listed as starting at 7:00 a.m. Monday. The posted detour will have drivers using Bridge Street and Ebycrest Road.
The closure marks the first stage of work on the new single-lane roundabout.
The vision behind the $3.7 million plan is to reduce serious collisions in the intersection and cut-down on travel time for commuters.
In October, crews are expected to move work to the Sawmill Road and Kraft Drive area.
All work is planned to be wrapped up by November this year.
