Man assaults store employee while attempting to get medication: police

Police in Guelph are searching for a man after reports he assaulted an employee at a convenience store, while trying to get medication without paying.
Monday around 7:30 a.m. police were called to the north-end of the Royal City to reports of an issue with payment at a business near Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North.
“The employee told police that a male had entered the store earlier in the morning and attempted to buy medication, but his payment card was declined,” said police.
When he was told he would still have to pay for the product, he reportedly hit the employee over the counter on the forearms before leaving.
It’s alleged he came back around 45 minutes later and tried once again to get the medication without paying.
This time, police said the man spat at the employee and tried to hit him again.
The man is described as white and around 35 years old with a slim build. He was reportedly wearing a black jacket and baggy, stained jeans that morning.
