The dog days of summer are nearly over in Waterloo Region, and many are looking ahead to the fall season and Halloween.
Back-to-school shopping will be top of mind for many families in the coming weeks, and a business in Kitchener is giving you the chance to grab a Halloween costume at the same time.
Once Upon a Child in Kitchener will be bringing out its Halloween costumes early this year on Aug. 23.
“For the little ones, they just like to dress up as doggies, puppies, piggies,” said Ewa Wilson, owner of Once Upon a Child in Kitchener. “It’s always fun to watch the moms find something that they think is cute and adorable for their little one to dress up.”
According to Wilson, the back-to-school shopping season begins to heat up next week as families look to get all the gear their kids will need for the new school year, which starts in just 26 days.
At Once Upon a Child, they buy and sell lightly used Halloween costumes, opening the door for some fun do-it-yourself projects.
“I’m impressed that people can be looking at these random parts, put them together, and put something together,” said Wilson. “It’s always impressive when people use their creativity to make something completely random and unique.”
Orange decorations and skeletons are also beginning to appear on store shelves at popular locations like Dollarama, Walmart, and Michaels.
