Dozens of vehicles targeted by thieves in workplace parking lots this summer

Police have issued a warning to drivers, keep your valuables out of your parked car, and make sure the car is locked – even when at work.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating nearly 30 cases of items being taken from parked vehicles since July this year.
The service said the alleged thefts have taken place in “heavily populated employee parking lots.” The most recent case involved multiple reports of theft on Thursday, August 13.
Police did not specify which lots have been targeted but do mention it’s not just the WRPS involved.
“The incidents are part of a larger, multi-jurisdictional investigation involving police services across Ontario,” said police.
“Investigators have learned that wallets and other valuables were targeted during these incidents.”
