Cambridge accessible ball diamond gets major funding boost

There’s a home run for a local accessibility project, as the City of Cambridge celebrates a $500,000 donation from the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation for the Kin 1 Baseball Diamond at Kinsmen Stadium in Riverside Park.
The $3 million site is set to be player-ready by next spring.
It will be ready for all players, touting a fully accessible parking lot, hard-surface pathways and seating that will allow barrier-free movement throughout the diamond.
“Donations play an important role in advancing major community projects,” said Mayor Jan Liggett.
“We are sincerely grateful to the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation, whose generous support helps ensure our city spaces are accessible and promotes active living and well-being across all age groups – particularly among our youth.”
The $500,000 comes through the Cambridge Play It Forward campaign, which also supports funding for the Cambridge Recreation Complex, the expanded Preston Memorial Auditorium and a new soccer complex.
