Panthers season comes to an end after 26-3 loss in Brantford

The Kitchener Panthers wrapped up their last game of the 2026 season in a loss to the Brantford Red Sox.
The game in Brantford got off to a slow start for Kitchener after the Red Sox loaded the bases in the first inning. Then, after a two RBI single, and a three-run home run from Cassidy Watt would add to Brantford’s lead
Kitchener was able to cut Brantford’s lead down to two after a three run second inning.
However, in the third inning the Red Sox looked to put the game out of reach early. A rally including three walks, eight singles and three doubles would score 13 more for Brantford.
Now down 18-3, Kitchener’s offence would be held quiet for the remainder of the game. Brantford would score 8 more before the ninth, including a three-run home run from Christian Ortega.
Wrapping up the year with a 26-3 loss. The Panthers will now have to wait until the 2027 season to play more baseball at Jack Couch Park.
Season overview
Finishing their season with a 16-32 record, the Panthers are currently 7th in the standings. Though, the Toronto Maple Leafs could match their record with a win in their final game.
Malik Williams made his name known in Kitchener. He led the entire Canadian Baseball League in batting average at .417, and finished second in on base percentage. Though, Williams wasn’t just hitting for contact, as he is also currently tied for fifth in total home runs and places second in slugging percentage across the league.
Mateo Zeppieri also had a strong year, now ranked in the top 15 slugging percentages league wide, while having an on base percentage over .400. Also recording 27 stolen bases, Zeppieri has the 4th most across the CBL. He made is presence known on the defensive side of the field, finishing with just one error across 39 games.
On the pitching side, Jorge Minyety had a strong rookie year on the mound for the Panthers. Throwing 40 innings across 8 games (7 starts), Minyety found himself with a 4.95 earned run average while keeping baserunners down to a minimum.
