KW Art Gallery announces fundraiser for 70th anniversary

After 70 years of artwork in the Waterloo Region, the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery (KWAG) has announced a new community fundraiser.
They say the goal of the Art in Motion fundraiser is to gather $10,000 to support barrier-free access to art. In a news release the KWAG says they will do this through exhibitions, educational programs, community initiatives and the management of the galleries collection.
Through the Art in Motion fundraiser, the art gallery is challenging residents to team up and travel across the Waterloo Region. Stopping at different artwork, parks, and neighbourhoods throughout their trip.
For the fundraiser, the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery has created a self-guided cycling trail that runs through Kitchener and Waterloo. Using a guide from the art gallery, riders will learn more about 20 different “discoveries” across the region.
Throughout the journey, the KWAG says that participants will be able to learn about some of the history and stories behind some of the region’s most memorable artwork.
Starting on Aug. 29, participants are able to walk along the trail anytime until Oct. 31. Teams will be competing for the grand prize which includes a $1,000 gift certificate to Ziggy’s Cycle.
Those interested in participating can register as an individual, or as a part of a team for $70.
