Celebrating 75 years of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium

Three-quarters of a century ago, the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium was built as a tribute to the men and women who served in World War 2, and was surrounded by nothing but farm fields.

Kitchener eventually grew around the building, and as announced Friday, the team behind the scenes that keeps The Aud functioning is excited to continue growth into the future.

“The legacy of The Aud is not just in the events it has hosted, but in the memories it has created for families, fans and visitors, making it one of the most important gathering places in our community and a symbol of our shared history,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic in a press release.

“As Kitchener continues to grow, The Aud remains a constant, bringing people together through sport, entertainment, community celebrations and many of life’s other memorable moments. Its impact over the past 75 years is something we can all cherish and take pride in.”

A tribute video has been created to celebrate the history of the building.

The Midway is set to return to The Aud this summer, with the four-day, free-to-attend carnival taking place between July 9 and 12.

Announcements about the new restaurant at The Aud and more are set to be released as the year progresses.
