The Kitchener Panthers allow 18 runs against 2nd-place Welland

The Kitchener Panthers ran into a red hot Welland offence over their Aug. 15, weekend matchup. Now with a 16-5 record at home, the Jackfish have been a tough team to beat for the Panthers.
In their last three games against one another, the Welland Jackfish have outscored Kitchener by a total of 51-12.
Trey Cruz would get the mound for Kitchener, facing off against Abdiel Saldana.
The Jackfish started scoring early, after a couple of leadoff walks and a single by Ethan Mann would put them up one in the first inning.
Then, in the bottom of the second Welland would continue to move the runners around, as a walk and a hit-by-pitch were followed by three hits. After the second inning, the Jackfish quickly took a 5-0 lead.
Through the third and fourth innings both teams were held scoreless, with Kitchener scoring their first run in the fifth after an RBI single from Malik Williams. However, after another three runs scored, the Panthers would find themselves down 8-1
Next, the Jackfish would score two more runs in the sixth, then rallied in the seventh inning for eight more runs.
A solo homerun by Mateo Zeppieri would end the games scoring, with Kitchener losing 18-2. The loss drops Kitchener below the Maple Leafs to eight in the Canadian Baseball League’s standings.
Now with only seven games left in the season, the Panthers look to end their season on a good note. The Panthers plan to make history in their next game on Aug. 16, where they will host the first ever “Orange Jersey Baseball Game“.
