Kitchener man arrested in Guelph sexual assault

A Kitchener man is facing a variety of charges after returning to the scene of an alleged sexual assault.

It was on Wednesday afternoon when Guelph Police responded to a disturbance call at a home in the city’s downtown area.

Police said the female victim in that incident alleged she had been sexually assaulted by a man that she knew. She said that suspect damaged property in the home before leaving the area in a truck. She also alleged he was on drugs.

In the midst of the police investigation, the suspect returned to the residence and was arrested by attending Guelph Police officers. Police believed he was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.

The suspect was taken to the police station and officers concluded he had taken a narcotic. A search also lead officers to discover a pill bottle that contained suspected crack cocaine.

A 36-year-old Kitchener man has since been charged with sexual assault, mischief under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance, and impaired driving. He is expected to appear in court on Nov. 4.
