Drug investigation leads police to teen wanted for over 40 offences

A 17-year-old faces a long list of charges from regional police, and could be on the hook for more from other police forces following a local drug investigation.
It was on Tuesday when officers arrested that teen alongside a 22-year-old man here in Waterloo Region, seizing suspected meth, fentanyl and oxycodone.
Also taken by Waterloo regional police was a loaded handgun, along with an extended magazine.
They later found that the teen was wanted on the strength of a warrant by several other police services, including Toronto Police, the Peel Regional Police Service, Thunder Bay Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police.
A release from our local police reads that the teen was wanted for over 40 offences, including eight counts of robbery, theft of a motor vehicle involving violence and five counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
That 22-year-old, hailing from the Greater Toronto Area, was also found to be wanted on a warrant from Toronto’s police service for offences like possession for the purpose of trafficking, obstruct peace officer and failing to comply with a release order.
As a result of the local drug investigation, that 17-year-old now faces the following charges:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Carry concealed weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possess restricted firearm with ammunition (loaded)
- Possess prohibited device (extended magazine)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a Schedule I substance
- Fail to comply with Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) sentence
- Fail to comply with release order (three counts)
The 22-year-old GTA man was also charged for fail to comply with release order, along with possession of a Schedule I substance.
Both those individuals have been held in police custody for a bail hearing.
