Kitchener Panthers lose first of four games in five days

After a tough loss, the Kitchener Panthers look to get hot through this busy stretch in the schedule. With another game today, Aug. 13, then two more upcoming for Aug. 15, and 16, the Panthers will have played four games in a five-day span.
Looking to turn their luck around, the Panthers have now lost two in a row, after winning two straight.
Their game against the Brantford Red Sox saw Panthers righty Evan Elliot face-off against Anthony Porcellato in his second career start in the CBL.
Kitchener struck early at home, as Petey Kiefer lined a double to jump to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
The Red Sox would respond in the top of the 2nd though, hitting a single then a double. With runners on the corners, a groundout to the shortstop scored the runner on third, cutting the lead in half.
After getting through the 2nd and a clean third inning, Brantford would take over the lead in the fourth inning. A walk, followed by a double and a groundout, would score one. Then, with the game tied Jakob Cantor hit an RBI single to make it a 3-2 game for the Red Sox.
A fifth inning rally that saw five score would extend Brantford’s lead to 8-2. Kitchener would hit four singles in a row in the bottom of the sixth to score two but were unable to bring the game within reach.
Brantford would add a few more insurance runs before the end of the game, with the Panthers losing 12-4.
The Panthers Aug. 13, match up against the Toronto Maple Leafs will see CBL batting average leader, Malik Williams face off against Yasiel Puig, the league leader in both home runs and on base percentage.
Aug. 16 is another special night for the Kitchener Panthers, they will be hosting their first ever Orange Jersey Baseball Game.
