Pedestrian seriously hurt after crash at Hwy. 7/8, Ottawa

Waterloo regional police said a pedestrian was seriously injured after a crash near Highway 7/8 and Ottawa Street South.

That is right near the Homer Watson Boulevard and Ottawa roundabout in Kitchener.

It was around 7 a.m. on Thursday morning when police were called to that crash – said to have involved a BMW and a pedestrian.

The person that was struck, a 36-year-old Waterloo woman, was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

Police closed the eastbound ramp to Highway 7/8 at Ottawa for several hours on Thursday morning as a result.

That on-ramp to the highway has since been reopened.
