GRT bus schedules to change Sep 7 for fall service season

Grand River Transit (GRT) riders should be prepared for changes to their commute when their fall schedule comes into effect just after Labour Day.
GRT says their new fall service schedule will begin with a holiday service schedule on Monday, Sept. 7. The new fall weekday schedule service will begin on Tuesday, September 8 the next day.
Routes with schedule changes
Grand River Transit has announced a number of routes will see minor schedule adjustments from the summer schedule to the new fall season. The following routes will see minor changes, which can be found on the GRT schedules page:
- Route 3
- Route 4
- Route 5
- Route 7
- Route 20
- Route 22
- Route 23
- Route 29
- Route 31
- Route 33
- Route 36
- Route 50
- Route 53
- Route 55
- Route 56
- Route 58
- Route 61
- Route 63
- Route 67
- Route 201
- Route 202
- Route 203
- Route 204
- Route 205
- Route 302
Routes with summer service restrictions ending
GRT says a number of routes will see their reduced scheduled frequency from the summer end on September 7. These routes will return to their regular schedule frequency, and the new changes can be found on the GRT schedules page. The routes that will have their summer reductions removed are:
– Route 8
– Route 13
– Route 19
– Route 31
– Route 61
– Route 91
– Route 201
Routes with service frequency changes
A number of routes will have their frequency of service change with the new fall service schedule. The following routes will have their service become more or less frequent to reflect the end of summer demand:
Route 61: Weekday service on route 61 will become less frequent past 6:30 p.m. Service past that time will operate at 30-minute intervals instead of 15. Statutory holiday service will also be reduced to 60 minutes instead of 30.
Route 202: Weekday peak service on route 202 will become more frequent. Peak service will now operate in 10 minute intervals instead of 15.
Route 203 will also see service between Sportsworld and Conestoga College resuming midday and in the evening with the September 7 changes.
Routes with route adjustments
Two GRT routes will be changing their routing to reflect temporary changes made in summer 2026. Those routes receiving changes are the following:
Route 5: Additional Sunday service will be added east of Uptown Waterloo. Route 5 will also now follow the same route every day of the week.
Route 77: Flex stops that have been added along Hincks Street and Forrest Avenue will be added to the permanent route, extending route 77.
Stop adjustments
Grand River Transit’s release also notes that a number of stops will be receiving adjustments and renovations. They say the adjustments are to “improve accessibility and stop amenities for customers.”
The following routes will see some of their stops being improved:
- Route 1
- Route 6
- Route 12
- Route 13
- Route 16
- Route 23
- Route 31
- Route 51
- Route 60
- Route 63
- Route 65
- Route 67
