Fire bans lifted, outdoor pools reopen across Waterloo Region

As the air quality in Waterloo Region improves, some municipalities have lifted their fire bans and reopened outdoor pools.
In the Townships of North Dumfries and Woolwich, the open-air burn bans are no more.
“While restrictions are removed, the North Dumfries Fire Department reminds residents that changing weather can quickly alter fire risks,” reads a notice from the Township.
“Safe burning practices remain essential to protect your property and the community.”
That includes clearing debris from your burn area, keeping a hose or water source handy, and keeping a close eye on your fire.
In Cambridge, the suspension on open-air burn permits has also ended.
“Residents are encouraged to consider current weather conditions, including wind speed and direction, before lighting any fires,” said city officials.
“Fires should be extinguished immediately if conditions become unsafe or if smoke adversely affects neighbouring properties, roadways, or public spaces.”
In Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo, outdoor pools and splash pads have reopened since the cities shut them down last week, due to poor air quality.
Kitchener also ended a city-wide burn ban as of Monday.
