Witness punches driver after a collision involving a cyclist in Guelph

A reported collision on Wednesday, brought emergency services into the Gordon and McGilvray streets area.
When officials arrived around 10:40 p.m., police say they saw the aftermath of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle. After investigating the collision, police say that the driver of the vehicle was punched by a witness of the incident. They added that the driver was hit in the face twice, with visible swelling around the driver’s lip and cheek.
The driver of the vehicle would go on to look for medical attention after the incident.
The cyclist involved in the collision, a 38-year-old was sent to the hospital with a leg injury.
As a result of the investigation, the Guelph Police Service says that two men are now facing charges.
The driver, a 67-year-old man from Guelph is being charged with making an illegal turn. The witness of the collision, a 29-year-old man from Georgetown, is facing assault charges.
