Flames tore through a number of townhomes in Kitchener, Thursday night, causing at least $ 1 million in damage.
A statement from city hall said firefighters were called out soon after 11 p.m. to the scene on Tudor Street — that’s near Huron Road and Strasburg Road.
“Crews arrived and there was substantial flame visible, smoke,” said Chris Gowing, chief fire prevention officer with the Kitchener Fire Department. “It was quite substantial; when the crews arrived, the flames were visible through the roof as well as smoke. They quickly acted and suppressed the fire in a timely manner.”
Fire damage reportedly impacted a four-unit townhouse structure, with the two middle units sustaining the most fire damage.
Gowing said all residents are accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.
People from the homes have been displaced, and arrangements are being made to find them temporary housing.

Fire investigators are still working to find out how this happened.
The Ontario Fire Marshal‘s Office has been called in to assist in the investigation.
