PHOTOS: Rangers Nation celebrates Memorial Cup win

It was hard to find a corner of downtown Kitchener on Tuesday that wasn’t full of Rangers fans.

A sea of red, blue, and white filled Carl Zehr Square for the Kitchener Rangers Memorial Cup celebration and parade.

Members of the Blueshirts — some with no shirt — took to the microphone to celebrate not only the win but also their amazing fanbase.

“You created an atmosphere that made the Kitchener Rangers the most respected and supported team in Junior Hockey,” said a shirtless Matthew Andonovski.

Captain Cameron Reid also took the mic, sharing his love for the team and the thousands of fans in attendance.

“All year round, you guys have been awesome. From Game 1, Day 1,” said Reid. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that when we went undefeated in the playoffs at home.”

Head Coach Jussi Ahokas was chanted to the stage, with a chorus of “Jussi! Jussi!”

“This is an unbelievable moment for our team and for the whole city,” said Ahokas. “There is no fan base like what we have here.”

Earlier this season, the Kitchener Rangers organization lost the 2027 Memorial Cup bid to Guelph, something that Rangers GM Mike McKenzie took aim at.

“We took some time to think about it. We said screw it, we’re going to go to Kelowna and get it this year!”

The Memorial Cup title is the third in Rangers’ franchise history.
