A Waterloo man has been charged in a child exploitation investigation.

Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS), with the assistance of the Laurier Special Constable Service, launched the investigation after a tip from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre.

On Monday, WRPS arrested an 18-year-old man in Waterloo.

He has been charged with possession of child sexual assault and exploitation material and making child sexual assault and exploitation material.

The mas was held for a bail hearing.
