Adults try to hide children during R.I.D.E. check in Cambridge

A driver was ticketed after the adults in a vehicle at a R.I.D.E. check stop in Cambridge allegedly tried to hide children from police.

Officers from the Waterloo Regional Police Service were conducting the road safety program Saturday night on the south edge of the city, around Water Street South and Myers Road.

They said a minivan came through the checkpoint around 11 that night.

Officers saw two adults in the back seat, not wearing their seatbelts.

Police also allege there was a passenger trying to hide a child under their dress on the floor of the minivan.

A second child was also spotted not buckled up.

Police said the children are 8 and 10 years old.

The 59-year-old driver from Brantford was issued two provincial offence notices for the unsecured children.
