The Kitchener Rangers are coming into Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on a high, after two massive wins at home Friday and Sunday.
Friday’s overtime thriller ended with a Sam O’Reilly goal, and Game 2 would see O’Reilly on the scoresheet again. In just a couple of minutes, O’Reilly would find the back of the net on the power play and then assist a short-handed goal from teammate Jack Pridham.
In fact, in the 2-1 Game 2, the Rangers’ special teams were a perfect four-for-four.
“At this point in the season, the games are tough for sure,” said Head Coach Jussi Ahokas. “It’s a battle, for two games it’s been a battle, and now we go back again.”
And they go back again quickly, in Windsor on Monday and Wednesday nights.
The quick turnaround doesn’t bother Ahokas.
“Every game is going to get harder, and you need to just keep playing better, that’s how it is. Recovery-wise, it’s the same for both teams, so for us, we are thinking of the next game, nothing else.”
The puck drops for Game 3 just after 7 p.m. with the pregame show live on 570 NewsRadio at 6:30 p.m.
If needed Game 5 will be back in Kitchener on Friday.
