The victim, a 33-year-old male, is said to have had a non-life-threatening injury consistent with a gunshot wound.

Police have not named the hospital from which the call originated, though a post on the service’s daily incidents page with a matching occurrence number indicates officers responded to a weapons-related call in the area of Queen’s Boulevard in Kitchener on Wednesday around 11 p.m.

Police have not specified the location in which the shooting occurred.

Police say the initial investigation has led them to believe the incident was targeted.

Anyone with information that can assist in the ongoing investigation is asked to contact police.
