Police investigate reported shooting near Kitchener trail

Waterloo regional police were on scene of a reported shooting in Kitchener Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Officers were called out to the Monte Carlo Street and Victoria Street South area of Kitchener around 8:35 p.m. Thursday for reports of gunshots.

Regional police say a group of youths were outside a residential complex in that area when they were approached by a male suspect, who fired multiple gunshots into the ground before running away.

The incident is believed to be targeted in nature. No physical injuries have been reported as a result of the shooting.

A cruiser and police tape were still in place Friday morning by a townhouse in the area, near a trail and wooded area.
