Three arrests made in targeted Kitchener shooting

Three men have been arrested by Waterloo regional police in connection with a shooting last month in the Lancaster Street West area of Kitchener.

The incident happened on April 9 around 2 a.m. in the Lancaster and Ash Street area of the city. At the time police said they believed the incident was targeted.

Officers said that as a result, a 44-year-old man from Waterloo was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“There was an altercation that took place at a business on Lancaster Street and as a result of the altercation, the shooting took place,” Kyle Lambert, inspector of criminal investigations, previously said. “We’re looking for a number of suspects who fled the area.”

Now police said three people have been arrested and charged over the course of the investigation.

The first is a 54-year-old man who was arrested for aggravated assault and forcible entry. He was held in custody and will appear in court on May 8.

After that, a 52-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault. He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Yesterday, police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the case. He faces several charges including:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order
  • Forcible entry

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
