11:00 – Cosby aftermath
Paul Singh, Kitchener City Councillor & board member, Centre in the Square
A Kitchener City Councillor is calling for a debrief after tonight’s controversial show at Centre in the Square. Ward 6 representative, and board member, Paul Singh says they need to have a discussion about what should be done in the future when controversial acts come to the area. He says it’s an important – and necessary – conversation to have.
11:15 – Cosby Security

With Cosby’s appearance scheduled to go ahead tonight as planned, a Facebook Group called ‘Keep Kitchener Cosby Free’ is calling for action. A blurb on the group’s page reads ‘Bill Cosby is a celebrity rapist. It is conveniently being emphasizing the idea of “celebrity” and sweeping the “rapist” under the rug. The show won’t be cancelled because of expense to refund everything. Come out for a peaceful protest. Let us make it known that rapists are not celebrities in our town.’ So far, 140 people have said they are going to attend. Regional Police are aware of the situation – and confirm that Centre in the Square has hired two police officers to help with security.
11:30 – Cosby – Freedom of speech

D’Amato has written several pieces leading up to Cosby’s local visit – her latest, published on Monday, is titled ‘We cherish freedom of speech in Kitchener, even for Cosby.’ Another recent article is called ‘Let Cosby’s fans see his Kitchener show in peace.’
