The KW Knitters’ Fair is back in the Waterloo Region, taking over the Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener for an afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 12.
This isn’t the first time the KW Knitter’s Fair is making an appearance, with the annual event making regular returns to the region. Bringing in vendors and knitters’ from all across Ontario for one of the provinces largest knitting fairs. Organizers of the event welcome anyone in the community to take some time and visit the fair.
Organizers describe the KW Knitters’ Fair as one of the oldest and largest one-day knitting events in all of Canada. Hosted by the not-for-profit Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Guild, they say the event is “organized by knitters, for knitters.”
What to expect at the KW Knitters’ Fair

Running from 9:30 a.m., to 4 p.m., the fair is only going to be around for one day. Bringing in many vendors from around the region to show off and sell their work. Though vendors won’t be the only thing drawing in interest.
Firstly, a fashion show of vendor submitted items will kick off the scheduled events, starting at 11 a.m. Highlighting different clothing items that were made locally from vendors around Ontario.
Then, later in the afternoon at 1 p.m., Kim McBrien Evans of Indigodragonfly will host “It’ll block out” is Not a Fitting Strategy – Inside the Knitter’s Sweater Fitting Bible.
The event will also be partnering up with the Food Bank of Waterloo Region in a charity fundraiser. Attendees are able to go to a yarn-winding station where people can have their yarny purchases wound up into tidy cakes, in exchange for a donation to the food bank. Attendees will be able to donate in cash or online, through the Food Bank of Waterloo Region’s website.
