All watches and warnings have ended for Waterloo Region and area

A severe thunderstorm watch and then warning was put in place Monday evening.

Environment Canada warned of conditions favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h.

The weather agency notes that thunderstorms will continue to move eastward throughout Monday evening, and are expected to gradually weaken by the late evening hour.

Residents are encouraged to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches, as strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage buildings and even overturn large vehicles.
