Kitchener track construction temporarily alters GO service

Overnight, on Aug. 15, the Kitchener Line rail service will see some areas temporarily closed off for upgrades.

The construction will impact service at the start of Aug. 15, until the end of the day on Aug. 16.

The goal of these new upgrades is to make GO Transit faster and more frequent throughout the region.

How service is impacted

In a news release, Kitchener Line users are being told that GO train service will only be running from Mount Pleasant to Mount Dennis GO stations along the stretch. They also say that GO buses will be replacing service from Stratford to Mount Pleasant GO stations.

In their release, they added a list of how to get to your destination, despite the impacted stops:

For people leaving at the Kitchener GO Station, the route 30 GO buses from Kitchener to Bramalea can connect with the train service. You can also take the bus to the Highway 407 Bus Terminal and connect from there to TTC Line one to Union Station.
If you’re at the Guelph Central, Acton or Georgetown GO Stations, the regular route 33 bus can connect to the train at Mount Pleasant. If you stay on the bus, it will take you to York Mills Station.
For those looking to go from Bramalea to Union Station, ride the route 47 GO bus to Highway 407 Bus Terminal, then connect to TTC Line 1 south to Union Station.
Then, if you’re heading to Union Station from any other station, ride the train to Mount Dennis GO. From there, take the ECLRT Line 5 to connect with TTC Line 1 to Union Station

There will also be late night service adjustments on Aug 14. All Eastbound trains on Aug 17 and 18 will leave the Kitchener/Stratford GO Stations 2 minutes earlier. Westbound trains over the same time will arrive at Kitchener and Stratford GO 2 minutes later. GO Transit said in their release.

Also adding: There will be no GO Transit services at Bloor GO and are recommending customers to use the TTC.

Service is scheduled to return to normal on Wednesday, Aug 19.
