Swatting incident in Kitchener under investigation

Another case of swatting has occurred in Kitchener, with regional police investigating.

“Swatting” refers to calls made for an emergency that doesn’t exist to force an emergency response from police.

Reports came in of a shooting at a residence in the area of Westmount Road West and Chopin Drive at roughly 2:45 a.m. on March 6.

When police arrived, they cleared the residence and determined that it had been a false report.

Police do believe this was a targeted incident, and an investigation is ongoing.

Its unknown if the false reports are related to similar incidents that occured in February, where similar false reports were made about a residence in the same area.
