Driver crashes into light pole on pedestrian path in Waterloo

Around 4:40 a.m., a vehicle driving down a pedestrian-only path in Waterloo crashed into a light pole, regional police told CityNews.

The incident happened early Wednesday morning in the Bridgeport Road East and Peppler Street area of the city, where the Laurel Trail is. Police said when they arrived they found the vehicle had crashed into the post causing “significant damage.”

At the scene, officers arrested a 23-year-old woman from Brantford. She was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police confirm there were no injuries associated with the collision.
