Multi-day heat event in effect for Waterloo Region

It’s expected to be a very hot few days in Waterloo Region, with a heat warning in effect.

Environment Canada warns of a multi-day heat event running from Sunday be until Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to be between 30 and 34 C during the day, with the humidex between 38 and 42.

Allister Aalders, 570 Weather Specialist, said there isn’t much of a chance of rain over the next few days.

“We could see an isolated shower moving as we go into Tuesday afternoon and into the evening,” he said. “We could also see the return of some wildfire smoke aloft as we go into Monday, so while it looks like a sunny day overall, it may be a bit hazy.”

Those planning to go outside during this heat wave are advised to take precautions, including drinking lots of water, limiting time in direct sunlight and checking on young children and older adults in the event of heat exhaustion. Signs of heat exhaustion include nausea, dizziness, headache, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.
