Pretzels, polka, and pomeranians?

Canine friends can get in on the K-W Oktoberfest fun Saturday through Dogtoberfest.

For the first time in the festival’s 55-year history, there will be a special free event catered to canines.

It’s happening in downtown Kitchener at Carl Zehr Square Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dogs and their owners will be able to take part in trick training advice, pack walks, ‘Sniffscape’ courses, contests, and more.

The event is free to attend and is being presented by Nutram Pet Products, in partnership with Dog Friendly K-W and supported by Global Pet Foods.

K-W Oktoberfest runs until Oct. 14.
