Technical issue, crash lead to ION disruption in K-W

Light rail transit was suspended through most of K-W for most of the afternoon on Friday.
Grand River Transit first announced an ION service disruption from the Conestoga to the Waterloo Public Square/Willis Way stations relating to a technical issue.
Shortly after, GRT announced ION trains were not running between the Conestoga and Mill stations due to a collision.
The crash involved an ION train and a vehicle, and occurred at Charles Street and Borden Avenue around 1 p.m.
Police said there were no reports of injuries.
While no official confirmation has been provided as of yet, the train service suspension alert was removed from Grand River Transit’s website around 6 p.m.
