Guelph police seeking purse snatcher

Guelph police are trying to track down a brazen purse snatcher after a woman was accosted while walking on the sidewalk Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported around 10:40 a.m. as a female resident said she was robbed in the Speedvale Ave. and Stevenson St. area.
The victim told police that she was walking on the sidewalk when another woman pushed her in the chest and stole her purse.
The victim allegedly tried to run after the thief but during the chase, the suspect removed the victim’s wallet and discarded her purse.
Police say the victim wasn’t hurt and her wallet was later found on Metcalfe St. but cash and banking cards were missing.
The suspect is described as a 5’3” white woman in her 30s with a heavy build and dark brown hair tied in a bun. She was wearing black clothing and carrying several duffle bags at the time.
