What to do in Waterloo Region this weekend

A busy weekend ahead of summer traditions kicking off in Waterloo Region.

Of course, it’s also Father’s Day this Sunday so bring dad along!

Bringing the crowds to downtown Kitchener, the 59th KW Multicultural Festival takes over Victoria Park Saturday and Sunday.

As always performers, food participants, Indigenous programming, workshops, and cultural experiences will be featured over the two-day event.

Staying in Kitchener, Neighbours Day is this Saturday with 100 pop-up concerts across various neighbourhoods in the city.

The annual event is described as all “about people coming together, turning everyday spaces into gathering places where neighbours old and new can connect, share experiences and celebrate the diversity of our city.”

Over 50 local musicians are set to perform.

At the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum Tacofest takes over Friday night and Saturday and Sunday will have the cosplayers out for KW Comic Con at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

On the ice, the Kitchener Rangers are hosting the club’s annual Development Camp Friday-Sunday at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium and Activa Sportsplex.

The full schedule can be found here.

Right next door to the Aud, on Father’s Day, you can take dad to a Kitchener Panthers game at Jack Couch Park at 2 p.m. They take on the Barrie Baycats that afternoon.

In Uptown Waterloo, numerous summer events are getting underway including Indigenous Market in the square and Go Skate Boarding Day with Bright Side Skateboard Supply.

You can check out more local events on the Explore Waterloo Region calendar page.

And a local favourite you won’t want to miss, pick-your-own strawberries at Herrle’s Country Farm Market has begun. This will be the first weekend for the annual activity.

A reminder this Sunday also marks the official start of summer at 4:24 a.m.
