Lime Canada preparing for Waterloo Region rollout

By Erin Anderson

Lime Canada is preparing to roll out its fleet of e-scooters and e-bikes in Waterloo Region.

It was announced earlier this month that the micromobility company acquired Neuron Canada, and the popular orange e-scooters were being removed from city streets.

Neuron had an agreement with the Region of Waterloo, and now, conversations are continuing with Lime to establish a new deal.

“Lime Canada, the Region of Waterloo and the cities are working closely together on next steps to support the transition of micromobility service in the region,” said Rachel Rappaport, Lime Canada’s senior regional lead of government relations. “Our shared focus is on building a strong foundation for service that is safe, reliable, and responsive to the needs of local riders and the broader community.”

Rappaport said Lime is committed to a thoughtful transition process to deliver the best possible rider experience once service begins.

No timeline has been finalized, but Rappaport said they want to get local residents riding Lime’s Gen4 e-scooters and Gen4 e-bikes as soon as possible.

“Riders will see vehicles in similar locations and deployments as they are used to, though we’ll look for ways to improve as we go and study the data in real time in consultation with cities, with an eye toward providing the most reliable service possible,” said Rappaport.

The company also plans to introduce its Lime Assist program so customers can pre-book an accessible vehicle for 24 hours and have it delivered to their residence at no cost.
