A significant player in the Kitchener-Waterloo brewing scene is no more.
Counterpoint Brewing Co. is closing its doors.
“Running a business is challenging, and despite our best efforts, we couldn’t sustain this any longer,” read a social media post. “This wasn’t an easy decision, and it definitely wasn’t one we hoped to make.”
The posts on both Facebook and Instagram have been flooded with words of support and sadness that the long-time local brewer is closing up shop.
Some of those comments were from other local business leaders and brewers.
“So sad to hear this news,” reads a comment from Block Three Brewing Company. “Counterpoint was a huge part of the KW Beer Scene and will be missed.”
A post from Wellington Brewery reads, “We’ll miss you. Thanks for being such great neighbours, sending love!”
Counterpoint wrapped up its goodbye message, saying, “As we wind things down, we won’t be able to respond to every message, but we truly appreciate all the love and support this community has shown us. Thanks for being part of the Counterpoint story.”
Counterpoint opened its doors on Frederick Street in Kitchener in 2019.
