Double OT win for Kitchener Rangers, OHL Championship lead now 3-0

Kitchener Rangers’ fans were kept on the edge of their seats Sunday night.

The Blueshirts extended their OHL Championship lead to 3-0 after a double overtime win in Barrie.

It was Dylan Edwards who would find the back of the net in the 4-3 nail-biting win.

“He goes to hard areas, and gets there, that is what we need,” said Kitchener Rangers Head Coach Jussi Ahokas. “I thought he played really well the whole game.”

Tuesday night’s Game 4 could see the Rangers hoist their first J. Ross Robertson Trophy in 18 years.

Despite the history-making pressure, Ahokas said they remain focused.

“We haven’t won anything yet. We need that one win, and we need to take that,” said Ahokas.

“You have to just think about that one game mentality, and we want to be at our best on Tuesday.”

You can hear Tuesday night’s game live on 570 NewsRadio starting at 6:30 p.m.

Watch parties are being held around Waterloo Region at Moose Winooski’s, Four Fathers Brewing, Jack Astor’s Kitchener and Boston Pizza Bingemans.

If needed Game 5 comes back to Kitchener on Thursday night.
