Driveway distraction theft sees necklace stolen in Kitchener

A victim was approached, mid-afternoon, in their own driveway and regional police say a distraction theft took place.

It was around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday when police say that the victim was approached outside of their home on Hidden Creek Drive, near Westforest Trail in Kitchener.

It’s alleged that the two suspects started a conversation with the victim, and during that interaction, one woman placed a necklace on the victim. At the same time, the suspect is said to have removed the victim’s original necklace.

They then fled the area in a nearby vehicle.

The victim of that distraction theft, a 65-year-old woman, did not sustain any injuries as a result of the interaction.

The investigation is still ongoing – anyone with information is asked to reach out to police at 519-570-9777, extension 4496.
