Lam records second career hat trick as Rangers defeat Attack

The Kitchener Rangers put on a high octane performance against the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night, taking the 7-4 victory.

Jack Pridham got the Rangers on the board during the first period, recording his 24th goal of the season, before Blake Munnings tied it for the Attack before the end of the period.

An explosive second period saw five goals between the two teams. This included one from newly acquired centre Sam O’Reilly that came short handed, a day after teammate Jared Woolley accomplished the same feat.

Tanner Lam led the way, recording two goals in that period, before recording his second career OHL hat trick to start off the third period. Gabriel Chiarot recorded his first goal as a Ranger with an empty netter before Jack Pridham added one more within the last 60 seconds of the game, marking goal number 25.

Lam received first star honours for his hat trick performance, with Pridham receiving third star honours for his three point night (two goals and one assist).

Head coach Jussi Ahokas said the game was one of the best performances the team has had all year.

“A lot of good things and we didn’t really give up chances again,” he said. “We got a full sixty today.”

Saturday’s win marks the fourth game in a row where the Rangers have gotten a point, establishing themselves at the top of the Midwest Division with a record of 25-11-3-1 with 54 points in 40 games. The team has won seven of their last 10 games, going back to Dec. 12, 2025.

Kitchener has the next few days off before they welcome the Saginaw Spirit to the Aud on Friday.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
