Shortly after, a North Bay man reported that his black 2024 Tundra was missing from the parking lot of a south-end hotel. Broken glass was again left behind where the truck was parked.
A similar incident happened at a north-end hotel overnight, police said. A woman from Woodbridge reported that her silver 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander had been stolen, there were no signs of damage to the vehicle.
On Sunday evening a Puslinch woman reported her white 2024 Lexus SUV had been taken from a parkade in downtown Guelph sometime during the day. Broken glass was found where the vehicle had been parked.
In a media release, the Guelph Police Service are encouraging residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys.
Officials are asking people to report suspicious activity around unattended vehicles, especially during overnight hours.
It is not known if the incidents are related. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Ian Smith of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit at 519-824-1212, ext. 7125, or email ismith@guelphpolice.ca.
