With a revamped lineup, some new players and a familiar face, the Kitchener Rangers continued their recent point streak with a win over the Oshawa Generals.
Prior to puck drop Friday night, former Rangers captain Brian Bellows became the second person to be inducted into the Rangers Level of Legacy. Bellows was the captain for the Rangers back in 1982 when the team won its first Memorial Cup. He would go on to have a successful NHL career, including a Stanley Cup win with the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
After the ceremony, the Rangers got right to work, taking an early 1-0 lead after the first period. Former Rangers captain Matthew Andronovski and newly acquired defenceman Jared Woolley each recorded an assist on Avry Antis’ opening goal.
Dylan Edwards recorded his 20th goal of the season in the second, as Christian Humphreys extended his point streak to six games with the assist. Woolley made his presence known as well, scoring a short-handed goal coming right out of the penalty box for his first goal as a Ranger.

Oshawa got on the board before the end of the second to make it 3-1. Anthony Figliomeni made it close for the Generals with a score late at just 1:32 left in the third, making it 3-2. But Humphreys dashed any hopes of a comeback with an empty net goal moments later, sealing the deal for the Rangers 4-2.
Woolley finished the game with first-star honours with two points in his Rangers debut. Edwards finished as second star with two points of his own.
With the win, Kitchener has earned five points in their last three games, remaining in first place of the Midwest Division at 24-11-3-1 with 52 points.
The Rangers are on the road Saturday evening, taking a road trip to Owen Sound to take on the Attack.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
