Icy conditions cancel school buses in Guelph area

Students in the area of Guelph will need to arrange alternate transportation to school on Tuesday morning, as icy conditions are expected on the drive.

Student Transportation Services Wellington-Dufferin cancelled all taxis and buses across service zones for Guelph, Centre Wellington, North Wellington and Dufferin, including RF Hall.

Despite the cancellation of transportation services in those coverage areas, schools across the division remain open.

A yellow warning for freezing rain remains in place for Guelph, with Environment Canada forecasting several hours of freezing rain on Tuesday morning through into the early evening, mixing with snow and ice pellets at times.

Despite similar conditions in the forecast for Waterloo Region, buses and taxi services are still running for students.

People should expect between 1 to 5 mm of ice accretion on roadways and walkways, with the potential for local utility outages as well.
