The Kitchener Rangers had their four-game win streak snapped by a strong defensive display from the Kingston Frontenacs in a tight 3-2 contest on Sunday afternoon.
Rangers forward Luke Ellinas grabbed his first goal of the season with less than two minutes to play in the third period, but it wasn’t enough to mount the comeback against the Frontenacs.
Kingston netminder Matthew Minchak made 32 saves and earned first star on the night.
“Their goalie stood on his head, kudos to him,” said Rangers defender Alexander Bilecki. “We generated a lot of chances but also gave up too many. They have a great top line there with a couple of great guys.”

In the win, the Frontenacs snapped a six-game losing skid in which they scored just nine goals in six games.
The Blueshirts fell to second in the Midwest Division as the Owen Sound Attack picked up a win on Sunday evening.
Next up for the hometown heroes is a visit from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday.
