Kitchener man arrested after breaking into women’s prison, assaulting inmates

Regional police are have arrested and charged a Kitchener man after he scaled the fence at a women’s prison, allegedly assaulting two inmates on Sunday evening.

According to Waterloo Regional Police Service, the incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. at the Grand Valley Institution for Women on Homer Watson Boulevard.

A 28-year-old Kitchener man climbed the fence and gained access to the yard where he allegedly assaulted two inmates.

The victims suffered minor injuries and the man was arrested at the scene.

The man was charged with break and enter, mischief and two counts of assault. He is being held for a bail hearing.
