The Cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge ended the on-street parking bans on Wednesday but snow-clearing efforts aren’t over yet.
The tri-cities lifted the snow events as of noon on Feb. 26.
The declarations had been in effect for almost two weeks following significant snowstorms that brought more than 40 centimetres to Waterloo Region.
All three cities are keeping the significant weather events in place until further notice.
“Our crews continue to work around the clock on snow clearing and removal across the city,” reads a release from the City of Waterloo. “This includes snow removal activities on LRT, main roads and arterials, and GRT routes, while also working to widen roads that have been narrowed by snowbanks, improve sightlines and address large snowbanks at intersections across the city.”
Each municipality also stressed that while the parking bans are no longer in effect, parked cars continue to pose more challenges.
“Parked cars are the main obstacle for crews trying to complete snow clearing and removal activities,” said the City of Kitchener.
Drivers are still asked to try to refrain from parking on city streets for prolonged periods to assist crews.
The City of Cambridge said, “As we continue snow clearing operations, you may see temporary No Parking signs in certain neighbourhoods. We appreciate you working with us to keep parked cars off necessary streets as we work!”
