Neuron e-scooters being removed from Waterloo Region

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Region of Waterloo says the orange e-scooters, e-bikes and accessible vehicles offered by Neuron Canada are now being removed.

It’s because Neuron Canada has been acquired by Lime Technology Canada. The news was announced late Friday afternoon.

While an agreement between Neuron Canada and the Region of Waterloo was set to continue until October, Neuron is no longer providing rentals because of the acquisition.

As a result, Neuron is in the process of removing all of its vehicles from Waterloo Region.

In a news release, the Region said Lime Canada has expressed interest in taking over operations of Neuron’s rental program but those discussions are ongoing.

“The Region and the cities are working with Lime to ensure any deployment of vehicles is consistent with the experience provided by Neuron,” read the release.

Neuron first started operating in the Region in 2023.
